GALA Update!

Let’s Go Team!!

The season has begun. Our teams have been formed. The kids are on the field (their classrooms) and the strategies for winning the game are being played out every day. It is the OSPREY way.

The “Y” in OSPREY is our favorite strategy. It is a vision of optimism. YES, WE CAN! If we want playgrounds for our children, we will find a way to fund them. If we want the high-tech smart boards, literacy centers, student enrichment programs, dance and theatre space to help our children be all that they can be, we can make it be.

Behind the scenes of the fabulous programs laid out by our president and the programs co-chairs are funds to make them reality and the team spirit to raise the funds. There are lots of ways to play on the team. See below for some winning ideas that are sure to keep the Daniel Island School ahead of the game!

Is Open! Come see our new, cool wear + our SALE items! And don't forget you can purchase items any Wednesday after school from 2:15 to 3pm and at the PTA general meetings.

Soup Labels Super Way to Help
We are now collecting Campbell's Soup labels to benefit the DIS PTA. Watch for more details coming soon!

DIS Bi-Annual GALA
Scheduled for March 21st 2009, we are party planning NOW. Please contact Heather Jones to volunteer your ideas or your time.

Publix Card for Cash
Do you have a DIS Publix PTA card? It's little and blue and attaches to your key chain. Every time you shop at Publix, dollars are donated to DIS! It's called Publix Partners. If you shop at Publix, please get one of the free Publix Partners cards available in the school office or by contacting Heather Jones at danielislandschoolfundraiser@gmail.com. These cards have already been coded with our information, so all you have to do is hand it to the cashier for our school to benefit from your purchases. Don't forget to use your Publix Partners card every time you buy groceries. We have received THOUSANDS of dollars over the last 2 years.

General Mills Box Tops for Education
This is a nationwide fundraising program that helps K-8 schools earn extra cash for items that are not covered by shrinking school budgets. Spread the word and start collecting. Ask your friends, neighbors, grandparents, and co-workers to save box tops for you. It's a fun and easy way to raise money for Daniel Island School. Our goal is to collect 20,000 box tops! Each items will have the "Box Tops for Education" logo located on the package. Just cut out the logo and send them with your child to their homeroom teacher. Bricks for Kids (Ongoing through December)
Buy your family a piece of history by purchasing a commemorative brick to celebrate the 2008-2009 school year. These beautiful, durable, and custom engraved bricks are a perfect way to permanently celebrate your child's time at Daniel Island School. We have a special holiday gift wrapping in the month of December. Click here for a brick form to send in with your child with a check made out to DIS PTA.

Land's End Preferred School Program
As you shop for fall and winter clothing, don't forget to enter our school (ID# 9001-1450-5) and we will receive a portion of the sales.

Orlando's Pizza Spirit Night (First Monday of each month)
Eat in or call ahead for pick-up! 10% of your check total will be donated to our school each FIRST MONDAY of the Month.

School Store Featuring Spirit Wear & Merchandise
This Year we have new, cool spirit wear for you and GREAT deals on some of your old favorites! Your can purchase Spirit Wear any Wednesday after school from 2:15 to 3pm, at the PTA general meetings, DI Park Day, the Pumpkin walk, and other community events to see the sales!

Harris Teeter Together in Education
For all you Harris Teeter customers, remember to have your VIC Card linked to our school Account # 6223 at the customer service counter or online at www.harristeeter.com. You must renew it every year after August 1 for us to continue to receive credit for your purchases. Remember to swipe it every time you shop!

DIS Recycling Program
A new fundraising program for 2008-09. Parents can bring in used print cartridges and cell phones all year. Drop them off at the office, we will do the rest. We can earn money for DIS PTA, help keep these items out of landfills and teach our children the VALUE of recycling! Please contact Heather Jones if you would also like to get a program like this going at your office, it can also benefit DIS PTA!
